Job Overview

Are you an experienced data professional looking to make a meaningful impact? UNICEF Pakistan is seeking a skilled Business Intelligence and Analytics Consultant to spearhead the operational and analytical use of our Integrated Data System (IDS).

Based in Islamabad, this 6-month consultancy focuses on shifting our enterprise data ecosystem from basic system development to generating high-level, actionable insights. You will bridge the gap between complex datasets and senior management decision-making, helping defend the rights and improve the lives of children across Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

As a Lead Data Analytics Consultant, your core duties will span five primary strategic areas:

1. Analytics and Insight Generation

  • Conduct continuous, deep-dive analysis of IDS datasets, including programme, administrative, geospatial, and survey data.
  • Translate complex data structures into actionable insights and structured analytical briefs using standardized templates.
  • Enable programme teams to utilize evidence-based data for timely planning and monitoring.

2. Power BI Dashboard Development & Scaling

  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade interactive dashboards aligned with UNICEF’s strategic priorities.
  • Improve data visualization, user adoption, and frontend usability across multiple organizational sections.

3. Data Integration & ETL Pipelines

  • Oversee the integration of priority internal and external datasets into the central IDS.
  • Apply rigorous data validation, data transformation, and semantic modeling practices to maximize data quality and interoperability.

4. AI-Enabled Reporting & Automation

  • Introduce innovative AI-assisted analytics and machine learning approaches to automate summaries, data narratives, and predictive reporting.

5. Capacity Building

  • Facilitate hands-on training sessions and mentorship to scale up staff capacity and foster a data-driven organizational culture.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Analytics, or a closely related technical field.

Work Experience

  • 7–10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence (BI), integrated data systems, or monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • Proven track record designing and maintaining data warehouses, decision-support tools, or enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience managing complex ETL/data pipeline workflows and metadata across diverse institutional datasets.
  • Experience with international organizations, government entities, or multi-stakeholder development environments is highly desirable.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Data Visualization: Mastery of Microsoft Power BI or equivalent advanced BI tools.
  • Programming & Databases: High proficiency in SQL and Python or R for advanced data transformation and automation.
  • Modern Data Stack: Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric (including data engineering, semantic modeling, and analytics components).
  • Cloud & Governance: Solid understanding of cloud-based data ecosystems, security practices, and data governance.
  • Language: Fluent/Proficient in English (written and verbal).

Note: Microsoft certifications related to Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, or Data Analytics are considered strong assets.
