Job Overview

Saudi Aramco, one of the world's leading integrated energy and chemicals enterprises, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Exploration Minerals Geologist to join its expanding subsurface resource exploration teams.

As the global transition toward electrification accelerates, the discovery and strategic management of critical mineral reserves have become essential. In this specialized, senior technical role, you will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and executing large-scale geological exploration programs aimed at identifying subsurface critical mineral deposits. By integrating classic economic geology with state-of-the-art subsurface mapping, geochemical analysis, and advanced structural modeling, you will play a foundational role in diversifying resource portfolios and optimizing long-term asset development.

Vacancy Details & Baseline Criteria

  • Job Title: Senior Exploration Minerals Geologist
  • Employment Type: Full-Time (Exact schedule to be specified in the formal job offer)
  • Job Location: Within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Specific location to be confirmed in the formal offer)

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized university in Geology, Economic Geology, Geophysics, or a closely related geosciences discipline.
  • Preferred Academic Profile: Candidates holding an advanced postgraduate degree (Master's or Ph.D.) specializing in Economic Geology, Mineralogy, or Structural Geology are highly preferred.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

  • Industry Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of direct, hands-on experience in mineral exploration, deposit modeling, and subsurface geological evaluation.
  • Economic Geology Expertise: Proven track record in identifying and evaluating economic mineral systems, with deep domain knowledge of sedimentary, magmatic, or hydrothermal deposit types (especially those containing critical electrification metals like lithium, copper, or rare earth elements).
  • Mapping & Structural Modeling: Advanced proficiency in 3D geological modeling software (such as Leapfrog Geo, Petrel, or Vulcan) to visualize structural controls and calculate volumetric deposit geometries.
  • Geochemical & Geophysical Integration: Demonstrated ability to interpret large-scale geochemical datasets, core-logging assays, and geophysical surveys (gravity, magnetics, seismic, and electrical methods) to narrow down exploration targets.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strong capability to lead and work seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams, bridging technical insights between drilling engineering, geochemistry, and corporate strategy teams.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties

  • Design, manage, and execute comprehensive subsurface mineral exploration programs, from regional conceptual targeting to detailed prospect evaluation.
  • Conduct detailed structural geology analyses, stratigraphic mapping, and core-logging operations to determine spatial and grade continuity of targeted mineral reserves.
  • Utilize advanced 3D software to build robust, scalable geological and deposit-grade models that reduce exploration risk and optimize drilling target placement.
  • Interpret and integrate multi-layered datasets, including remote sensing imagery, regional geochemistry, and complex airborne or ground geophysical survey profiles.
  • Plan and supervise exploration drilling campaigns, establishing strict data acquisition protocols, core-handling workflows, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) assay standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and structural evaluations of new exploration blocks, presenting rigorous economic-geology business cases to executive committees for capital allocation.
  • Author detailed technical exploration reports, resource classification briefs, and statutory compliance documentation based on international reporting standards.
  • Mentor, train, and accelerate the technical professional development of junior geologists and incoming geoscience personnel within the department.

Working Environment & Benefits

Saudi Aramco provides a highly rewarding, collaborative, and globally competitive professional working environment. Exploration teams utilize world-class diagnostic laboratories, elite computing infrastructure, and unmatched operational support to manage large-scale subsurface ventures. Financial remuneration packages, international relocation assistance, tax-protected savings schemes, comprehensive medical networks, and premium executive housing allocations match the elite performance expectations of this critical scientific path.

Expert Advice for Applicants

  • Highlight Critical Minerals and Electrification Metals: General gold or base-metal exploration models are valuable, but modern critical mineral extraction strategies look for specific geochemical domain knowledge. If you have experience modeling brine-hosted lithium, sedimentary copper, or roll-front styles of mineralization, highlight this on the very first page of your CV.
  • Showcase 3D Implicit Modeling Proficiency: Recruiters rely heavily on software-driven tracking. Explicitly showcase your fluency in tools like Leapfrog Geo or Petrel, and frame your experience around implicit modeling—detailing how you turned complex, sparse drilling assay data into coherent 3D fault and lithological models.
  • Emphasize Drilling Campaign Management: This role is heavily operational. Make sure to detail your direct leadership over exploration rigs, including how you managed downhole deviation, tracked core recovery metrics under challenging formation conditions, and strictly enforced QA/QC protocols with external laboratories.
