About the Role

Motive is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our Fleet Management team. You will build and scale the infrastructure that powers our automated operations platform, which currently serves nearly 100,000 customers. This role involves building high-throughput systems that ingest real-time data from IoT hardware and AI-powered dashcams.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and implement scalable product features using Golang and Ruby on Rails.
Design and optimize high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
Work with AWS cloud infrastructure to deploy and maintain resilient services.
Lead the migration and optimization of complex data models using PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
Collaborate across teams (Computer Vision, Data Science, Product) to deliver impactful AI-driven features.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and proactive technical debt reduction.

What We're Looking For

Experience: 5+ years in professional backend software development.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
Languages: Proficiency in Golang, Ruby on Rails, Java, or similar.
Infrastructure: Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, and relational/NoSQL databases.
Ownership: A proactive mindset focused on quality, simplicity, and scaling for massive user bases.
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
