The Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC), Lahore is a premier cardiology center under the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Government of Punjab. The Institute is dedicated to providing advanced cardiac care, conducting research, and training healthcare professionals in cardiology and related disciplines. The Department of Interventional Cardiology is at the forefront of modern cardiac interventional procedures and minimally invasive treatments.

Position Overview

The Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist is a specialized medical position in the Department of Interventional Cardiology at JIC. The appointment is on a lump-sum contract basis for three years, and is eligible for re-appointment based on satisfactory performance. The Senior Consultant will provide expert interventional cardiology services, lead interventional initiatives, and contribute to medical education and research.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert interventional cardiology diagnosis and treatment services.
• Perform complex coronary and peripheral interventional procedures.
• Oversee and supervise interventional cardiology laboratory operations and quality assurance.
• Lead diagnostic and therapeutic initiatives in interventional cardiology.
• Conduct research and contribute to academic publications and conferences.
• Participate in medical education and training of junior cardiologists and interventional staff.
• Ensure compliance with international standards for interventional procedures.
• Report to the Director/Head of Department on cardiology matters.

Prescribed Qualification & Experience

• Basic Qualification: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC).
• Postgraduate Qualification (Mandatory):
  • MD (Cardiology), OR
  • MS (Cardiology), OR
  • FCPS (Part II) in Cardiology, OR
  • MRCP with CCT (Certified of Completion of Training) in Cardiology, OR
  • Diplomate American Board of Cardiology
• Experience: Minimum 03 years post-graduation practical experience in interventional cardiology in a recognized healthcare institution.
• Research Publications: At least 02 research papers published in standard medical journals approved by PM&DC/HEC.
• Age Limit: 30 to 55 years of age at the time of application.

Selection Process

• Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
• Interview panel will include Board of Management representatives and senior cardiology professionals.
• Equivalence certificates from HEC/PMDC are mandatory for foreign qualifications at interview stage.
• No TA/DA (Traveling Allowance/Daily Allowance) will be provided for interview attendance.
• Verification of research publications and credentials will be conducted during the selection process.

• Appointment will be made on a three-year lump-sum contract basis.
• Eligible for re-appointment based on satisfactory performance evaluation.
• Upper age limit relaxation is admissible as per Government of Punjab policy.
