About This Role
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Consular and Passport Manager to manage consular, passport, and notarial services for Australian citizens in Pakistan. This is a non-ongoing full-time position on a one-year contract (with possibility of extension) based in Islamabad. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of high-quality consular services, manage passport operations, handle emergency assistance requirements, and ensure compliance with Australian government policies. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to serving Australian citizens and the broader Australian mission in Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
- • Manage all consular services for Australian citizens including visa matters, citizenship, and documentation services
- • Oversee passport operations and manage passport issuance, renewal, and cancellation processes
- • Handle notarial services and authenticate official documents
- • Lead emergency management and consular assistance operations outside regular office hours
- • Develop and maintain business continuity plans for critical consular operations
- • Supervise and manage consular staff team performance and professional development
- • Provide emergency consular assistance to Australian citizens in distress
- • Coordinate travel within Pakistan for consular matters and citizen assistance
- • Ensure compliance with DFAT policies, procedures, and security protocols
- • Maintain accurate records of consular cases and maintain confidentiality
- • Liaise with Pakistani authorities and international partners
- • Monitor workload and resource allocation for optimal service delivery
- • Prepare reports on consular activities and service statistics
- • Update and maintain standard operating procedures for consular operations
- • Participate in training and professional development initiatives
Requirements & Qualifications
- ✓ Minimum Bachelor's degree from recognized institution
- ✓ Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in consular services, passport administration, or related government roles
- ✓ Strong understanding of Australian foreign policy and diplomatic protocols
- ✓ Excellent organizational and project management capabilities
- ✓ Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and staff
- ✓ Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- ✓ Ability to work under pressure and manage sensitive situations
- ✓ Knowledge of Australian visa and citizenship procedures
- ✓ Experience with emergency management and crisis response
- ✓ Proficiency with computer systems and office applications
- ✓ Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Pakistan
- ✓ Medical clearance and police verification required
